QTVOTD: We must possess God as our own…

17th (Day 77) “The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks justice. The law of his God is in his heart; his steps do not slip.” Psalms 37:30-31

Righteousness begets a lot of great things -> wisdom, justice, and sure-footed-ness. I love this part: “the law of HIS God is in his heart”. That is so awesome. Not only am I His but He is mine…and I dwell on His law day and night. I hope you guys are doing well. Christmas (the celebration of the coming of our King) is one week away tomorrow. I love and miss you all tons!

QTVOTD: Steps established by God…

16th (Day 76) “The steps of a man are established by the LORD, when he delights in his way; though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the LORD upholds his hand.” Psalms 37:23-24

I like to just restate verses like this that just help me consume what is being said. ‘When I delight in the way of Lord, my steps are established by Him.’  The second verse reminds me of walking Brooklyn by the hand. We walk along and when she trips I take her weight by holding her hand and then set her back down to regain her own stance. So, when I delight in the Lord and my steps are established by Him, I will still trip but I won’t fall to the ground. The Lord is there, holding my hand, ready to set me back in my stance. We missed everyone last night. Had a great time playing Pandemic (appropriate) and then a round of 7 Wonders. Great time hanging, visiting, and laughing. Loved it. Thank you Chris for opening your home.

QTVOTD: MEEKNESS -> A condition of the heart.

14th (Day 74) “But the meek shall inherit the land and delight themselves in abundant peace.” Psalms 37:11

Definition of Meek: possessing a mild, moderate, humble, or submissive quality.  I’d like to think that I, at times, can be found to be this way but, as a man under Gods process of sanctification, it needs to be an aspect of my personality that, to the outsider, is apparent both in interactions and behind closed doors.  This is another example of a condition of the heart that the Lord is looking for; not the random acts of meekness. Doesn’t ‘abundant peace’ sound good to you?

QTVOTD: Your desires become His desires…

13th (Day 73) “Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act.” Psalms 37:3-5

Each day that I consume more of this book the more I am encouraged and challenged by David and God’s word through him.  These three verses are a recipe for living in comfort and peace here on earth.  I like this ‘dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness’. Doing a little study we can see that ‘dwell in the land’ is to find safe pasture and then enjoy its security.  Then we see the verse that most of us know and many mis-apply ‘Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your hear’ is followed by ‘trust in Him and He will act’ which tells me that the desires of your heart become transformed in to the desire to follow His will and purpose for our life; the desire to glorify Him in all that we do.  When that is the case, God most assuredly will give us the desires of THAT heart.  This is the faithfulness of God and His word that Marianne and I have seen in the shaping of our family over the last several years.

QTVOTD: Trust and Perseverance…

12th (Day 73) “Fret not yourself because of evildoers; be not envious of wrongdoers! For they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb.” Psalms 37:1-2

Psalms is just packed full of these goodies. This all comes down to trust and perseverance. I trust God that He has he final say and His justice will be  complete…I just need to hold out until the end. Stay focused on Him and live IN Christ until the day of His return. Whether it be in this lifetime or eternity, I will get to see the just hand of God sweep over the unrighteous and evils of this fallen world. My job is to courageously share the good news of the gospel every opportunity I get to impact the Kingdom that matters. I am just a sojourner.

QTVOTD: Pursuing God brings us the best of Himself.

11th (Day 73) “They feast on the abundance of your house, and you give them drink from the river of your delights. For with you is the fountain of life; in your light do we see light.” Psalms 36:8-9

These verses are all about aligning yourself to what is important to God. It’s from this place that the passage about ‘ask the Lord for anything, in My name, and it will be given to you’.  The point is is that in our sanctification is the feast on the things Gods house is made out of. When we are nestled in the lap of God, the value of and love of others becomes a fuel that pushes us to serve. As we accept the Lord’s truth through His word, more truth becomes visible. Pursuing God brings favor, delight, fruitful life, and knowledge/wisdom/discernment.

QTVOTD: Prayers of the Righteous…

10th (Day 72) “The eyes of the LORD are toward the righteous and his ears toward their cry.” Psalms 34:15

Good morning gents!  Last night was my Dad/Daughter time with Bella. We went to Alderwood where we ran into Chris and Liz!  We then picked up dinner and ate it at mom and dads house in Bothell before returning home. Needless to say it was late. Yesterday I spent my day in sporadic and spontaneous prayer for our church, state and country leaders, and people on my prayer list. This verse sums up the place I want to live my life – with Gods eyes toward me and ear tuned to my prayer requests.

QTVOTD: Exalt Him together…

9th (Day 71) “Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together! I sought the LORD, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed.” Psalms 34:3-5

Hello all! At our Elder’s Meeting this Monday Pastor Steve invited us to join him in Prayer and Fasting every Thursday. I definitely plan to join him. I’d like to encourage you, as my safe harbor and accountability group, to join in this. If you have never fasted before hit me up in the comments and I will talk you through what I do plus some scripture that explains it a bit more. I’ll have to be honest and say that the state of things in regard to our current climate has my mind and body tired, but; my heart is strong and my reliance on my Savior is growing more and more. Hope you are all doing well. I sure miss hearing from some of you and what the Lord is speaking into you during this time.

QTVOTD: …at all times…

8th (Day 70) “I will bless the LORD at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.” Psalms 34:1

There could not be a more appropriate verse for my day today. ‘I will bless the Lord at ALL times’ Honestly, today, I did not FEEL like blessing the Lord. It was a rough start to write an email that communicated something that should have gone out days earlier. Then I had meeting after meeting where each was a glaring reflecting of so much I have not done right at my job. All the while I could hear my wife tackling the littles who are in a weird transition time and feeling like I am not pulling my weight at home. Then I sit down in to read this verse…my mind immediately went to all I have and the full life that God has given me. Health for my whole family, a wonderful home, a job that God has provided that gives way over what I deserve. Today —> I will bless the Lord!

QTVOTD: God’s hand through Unity…

7th (Day 69) “Our soul waits for the LORD; he is our help and our shield. For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. Let your steadfast love, O LORD, be upon us, even as we hope in you.” Psalms 33:20-22

After tonight’s Elder’s meeting this passage is such a great representation of the hearts of the leadership of our church. I was so encouraged by the openness to hear all spiritual convictions and in the end we were united in the decisions we made. This part of serving in the church in this way is awe inspiring. I walk away encouraged in HOPE, God’s Strength, and His grace through His Son. So thankful!
