“Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.” But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the Lord.”” Jeremiah 1:6-8 -> me: As you can probably tell, today I have started the book of Jeremiah. In verse 5, preceding this verse, we get what God has done in regards to Jeremiah – “I formed you; I knew you; I set you apart; I appointed you”. As a born again Christian, I have a role to do on this earth, which God knew before I was born. Like Jeremiah, I find myself questioning sometimes what God, through His Word, through His Holy Spirit, or through other Brothers and Sisters in Christ, is telling me to do…that I am I not good enough, not smart enough, not wise enough, etc. Here God essentially says ‘shame on you, don’t say “I am only a child” when I am the One Who has called you! Go, say, and do whatever I command of you. I will protect you. Do not be afraid of those over whom I rule.’ Although I am not called as a prophet; I am called as a child of His to go about and do the work of His Kingdom. I need to do this in humility, but without fear or doubt.
